July 2010  Changes to the Food Standards Agency. The Government has today (20th July 2010) announced its intention to retain the Food Standards Agency (FSA) with a renewed focus on food safety.

June 2010 The new education bill will be announced in the autumn term. Whilst we cannot predict the changes to the current curriculum, press releases indicate that changes are being discussed by the Coalition government. Until then, the DSCF (now DfE) funded food curriculum programmes are continuing as normal (Teach Food Technology, Licence to Cook, Food in Schools).

Food in schools - Progress in implementing the new school food standards. This is the second report by Ofsted on the progress that schools are making in encouraging healthy eating and in meeting the Government's food-based and nutrient-based standards.

February 2010 The report of the first year of the National Diet Nutrition Survey rolling programme (February 2008 to March 2009) is available on their website. This report focuses on food consumption and nutrient intakes for adults aged 19 to 64 years and for children aged 18 months to 3 years, 4 to 10 years and 11 to 18 years.

September 2008 The Licence to Cook team welcomes the announcement made on Thursday 11 September 2008 by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) outlining the commitment being made to making Food Technology a compulsory element of the curriculum from 2011.
